Gen 9 Ubers Bulky Utility

Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Atk / 52 Def / 156 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Spinner
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Knock Off

Love or hate, this thing has some physical bulk. Ice Spinner serves as nice coverage, Earthquake for STAB, Rapid Spin and Knock Off become a good pair against Flutter Mane and Houndstone. Jolly and 156 Spe reach 273 Spe which outspeeds the whole unboosted meta after a Rapid Spin. After maxing HP, the Def EVs guarantee a Def Protosynthesis boost under Sun, while giving the leftover EVs to Atk. Lefties serve as a replacement for recovery moves, and Tera Steel can help get the jump on a Flutter Mane's Moonblast.

  • 48 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Flutter Mane: 229-270 (91.2 - 107.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 48 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Miraidon: 284-336 (83.2 - 98.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 48 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Clodsire: 422-498 (91.1 - 107.5%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 Atk Sword of Ruin Chien-Pao Ice Shard vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Great Tusk: 126-150 (29 - 34.5%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 48 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Toxapex: 158-188 (51.9 - 61.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Gen 9 OU
Great Tusk @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground / Fighting / Rock / Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Careful Nature
- Body Press / Brick Break / Close Combat
- Earthquake / Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner / Ice Fang / Tera Blast
- Knock Off / Heavy Slam

Alternate EV spread: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Atk

If you use body press you might want to max out the def evs. Brick break has the lowest BP out of the three, but it can remove screens which are annoying at times. Close combat has high power but low pp and lowers defenses. Earthquake is 100bp 100 acc stab, headlong rush is a ground type close combat. For the third and fourth slots you have a variety of choices. Ice spinner if you want higher damage and to remove terrains, ice fang for the 10 per freeze and the 10 per flinch at the cost of bp and accuracy, tera blast for tera type move. Knock off removes foe's held items, such as Baxcalibur's loaded dice. Heavy slam is steel coverage against lighter enemies.

Great Tusk @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Headlong Rush
- Rapid Spin
- Knock off

Headlong rush and close combat are both strong stab, rapid spin boosts speed which is good for offense and removing hazards and knock off is for crippling mons and for gholdengo.

Why water Tera type specifically?
Great Tusk is weak to water which in my experience is quite common and it is the most common Tera type on tusk.

Gen 9 Monotype Bulk Up + Rapid Spin (Ground)

Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Rapid Spin
- Body Press
- Earthquake

This set has Great Tusk role compress as both a Rapid Spinner and a Defensive Bulk Up Pokemon for Ground teams. Bulk Up boosts your attack and defense, which increases Great Tusk's offensive and defensive presence. Rapid Spin is used to clear entry hazards from your side, and the speed boost(s) from Rapid Spin can let you outspeed fast Pokemon. Body Press is used as the Fighting STAB, as it takes advantage of the defense boosts from Bulk Up. Earthquake is used for the Ground STAB, as it doesn't lower the defense stat unlike Headlong Rush.

This set should use Bulk Up when special wallbreakers on the opposing team are knocked out. 252 HP EVs are used for bulk. 40 Speed EVs along with a Jolly Nature allow you to outspeed Magnezone. The rest of the EVs are used in Special Defense to helpout Great Tusk's special bulk somewhat.

Gen 9 AG Defensive
Great Tusk
Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Bulk Up
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock / Taunt / Body Press
- Rapid Spin

Great Tusk is a very common threat in the Gen 9 AG metagame. Outstanding bulk coupled with a protosynthesis defense boost allows it to serve as an effective Koraidon switchin, although it is worth noting that it should not act as your sole answer for Koraidon as it lacks reliable recovery and can be chipped down. Great Tusk’s awesome base physical attack allows it to spam STAB earthquakes, which can deal some serious damage. Bulk Up can turn Great Tusk in to a terrifying win condition, as it makes it untouchable by physical attacks and allows it to dish out extreme damage. Rapid Spin gives you the helpful ability to remove hazards, which is rare in this meta, as well as allowing for a potential sweep with its speed boosts. The final slot can be used for several things. You can never really go wrong with stealth rocks, and body Press can do a ton of damage with STAB, incredibly high defense, and defense boosts from protosynthesis. Another interesting option is Taunt, which allows you to mess with Corviknight, Scream Tail, and other common defensive Pokémon. The steel tera type is risky, as it jeopardizes the Koraidon matchup a bit, but it can allow you to reverse a matchup against Chien-pao, Flutter Mane, or Scream Tail in to your favor.

Gen 9 OU physical tank set (for both doubles and singles)
Item: Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground/Fighting/Rock (chose the first two because I couldn’t be bothered, and I chose Rock because it’s good against both its Flying and Ice weaknesses)
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Def, 6 HP
Nature: Adamant (lowers SpA, boosts Atk)
- Body Press/Brick Break/Close Combat
- Earthquake/Headlong Rush
- Rock Slide/Stone Edge
- Thunder Fang

The Fighting and Ground moves are for STAB. The Rock moves are either for coverage or are boosted Tera moves. Thunder Fang is used as coverage for Water types if you choose Ground or Rock, or Flying types if you choose Fighting.

Moveset of the Day!
Maybe no one has done this because it's bad.
But I made a Band Dondozo, so I guess HERE WE GO

Gen 9 OU
Great Tusk @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Headlong Rush
- Play Rough
- Stone Edge

Stone Edge for pesky Flying types that hurt your feelings. This acts sort of an anti-revenge killer and wallbreaker, outspeeding most everything except priority. Tera Ground to make your Headlong Rushes extra hurty, helping it against more bulky Pokemon, such as Azumarill, Toxapex and Garchomp.

You beat:
Chein-Pao without Ice Shard
Toxapex
Ting-Lu
Azumarill
Bulky Garchomp
Gholdengo

You lose to:
Most Priority (if you've been choiced into HR or CC)
Corviknight
Faster Scarfers
Chein-Pao with Ice Shard
Unaware Dondozo

Top Teammate
Iron Moth. It majorly hurts Corviknight and Dondozo that it struggles to break past without heavy team support, and in return, Great Tusk gets Chein-Pao, Toxapex and Azumarill that IM would otherwise struggle against.

Feel free to hurt my feelings down below.

Middling at best Showdown player,
MrKensa

Great Tusk is a very fun Pokemon and is a great Pokemon in both singles and doubles!!

Gen 9 OU

Helper (Great Tusk) @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel / Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def or 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
In singles I like using Great Tusk as a rapid spin Pokemon. It fits a ton of teams very well! Stealth Rocks is for setting up hazards and knock off is a great move that no Pokemon likes to switch into. (Safe move!!)
Steel and fire tera are both for resisting fairy. Steel makes you immune to toxic and fire makes you immune to burns which is useful, but it does not cover for the water weakness.

Gen 9 VGC

Angry Elephant (Great Tusk) @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf / Focus Sash
Ability: Protosynthesis
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner / Earthquake
- Earthquake/ Rock Slide / Knock off / Protect
Use this set with a tailwind user like Talonflame, great partner for great tusk as it has tailwind and you can earthquake next to it! Tera type of ground is for more power!!! Also you want to use choice scarf, then rock slide is a very fun move. Protect is if you want to use focus sash (And because protect is probably the best move in VGC ever).
Overall, this Pokemon is just amazing!

Gen 9 Ubers Bulky Lead

Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Atk / 68 Def
Impish Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Close Combat
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

This thing can run a ton of different sets too. Very similar to its (slightly) lesser twin Iron Treads, Tusk can run a lead set with Rocks and Rapid Spin, as well as dual STABs. Leftovers to increase this wall's capabilities, and the EVs guarantee a Def boost under Sun, when it becomes borderline unkillable by physical moves. Obviously, a great counter to non-Tera Miraidon, but generally any neutral coverage physical attacker.

  • 252 Atk Orichalcum Pulse Koraidon Collision Course vs. 252 HP / 68+ Def Protosynthesis Great Tusk: 118-139 (27.1 - 32%) -- 43.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • +2 0 Atk Annihilape Drain Punch vs. 252 HP / 68+ Def Great Tusk: 124-147 (28.5 - 33.8%) -- 97.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Palafin Flip Turn vs. 252 HP / 68+ Def Great Tusk: 150-176 (34.5 - 40.5%) -- 47% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 188 Atk Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Miraidon: 378-446 (110.8 - 130.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Gen 9 Monotype Substitute + 3 Attacks (Ground)

Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Close Combat
- Earthquake / Headlong Rush
- Knock Off

A Substitute + 3 Attacks set Great Tusk can use on Ground teams in Gen 9 Monotype. Great Tusk is fast and tanky on the physical side, allowing it to use Substitute to dodge things such as Toxic. Close Combat and Earthquake are used for powerful STAB moves that is a pretty good combination. Headlong Rush is an option over Earthquake for a more powerful Ground STAB. Knock Off allows Great Tusk to remove items from opposing Pokemon and serves as a good coverage move against Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Brambleghast, Hisuian Zoroark, Iron Leaves, and non-Air Balloon Gholdengo. Leftovers is used to give Great Tusk passive HP recovery.
